How to Order CAPS Incontinence

How you can use your CAPS funding to purchase continence products?

  • The CAPS payment will be made from the federal government to the account that you have nominated on your application.
  • The CAPS payment rate  varies each year. The payment may increase or decrease each year following the Government’s budget process.  Payments are either made once a year, sometime in July, or twice a year in a split payment, sometime in July and January.  You can choose if you want once or twice yearly payments.
  • The payment can be made directly into a nominated representative's bank account (details of the relationship are required) or to a nominated organisation such as ADACSS Shop (www.adacss.com.au) , who may assist you to purchase your continence products.
  • If there are any changes in the bank details or addresses, Report a change in circumstances, to the CAPS Information Team on 1800 239 309 , 8.30am to 5.00pm AEST, Monday to Friday. Only the person receiving CAPS, or their nominated representative, can speak to the CAPS Information Team to change / update / check on details.  Have your Medicare number with you when you call.
  • When making use of your CAPS funding it is important to make sure that you budget properly and that you will not be out of funding too soon as there are limited opportunities to receive more funding when your full payment has been made.
  • Use the CAPS funding to then order your continence products through our website.

HOW TO MAKE USE OF THE CAPS FUNDING?

Choose Eligible Products:

CAPS funding covers a range of continence products, including:

  • Incontinence pads and briefs
  • Catheters and supplies
  • Protective underwear
  • Skin cleansers and barrier creams

Consult with your healthcare professional to determine the most suitable products for your specific needs.

Retain Receipts:

Keep all receipts for your purchases. You may need to provide these to the Department of Health and Aged Care if they request an audit of your spending.

Claim Reimbursement :

Once you have accumulated eligible expenses, submit a claim to the Department of Health and Aged Care. They will reimburse you for the cost of the products, up to your annual CAPS payment limit.

Additional Tips for CAPS Funding:

  • Budgeting: Plan your purchases to ensure you stay within your annual CAPS allocation.
  • Bulk Purchases: Consider buying in bulk to potentially save money.
  • Compare Prices: Shop around to find the best prices on continence products.
  • Regular Reviews: Review your needs and adjust your purchases as necessary.

Remember:

  • CAPS funding is intended to assist with the cost of continence products, not to replace them entirely.
